Our Story
A workday uniform for people who have better things to think about.
Your office day is unpredictable. You start in AC that feels like a freezer, step out into humid heat for lunch, sit through back-to-back meetings, then take late calls from home. Most clothes force you to choose: comfort or polish. Rarely both. We started Essential Layers because we were tired of that choice.
Tired of stiff dress shirts that look sharp but feel suffocating by noon. Tired of casual tees that breathe well but don't hold up in client meetings. Tired of building a closet full of "options" that still leave us guessing every morning.
The idea was simple: build a small, reliable uniform instead of a big, noisy wardrobe. Something you could reach for without thinking. Something that works from commute to last meeting, no matter what the day throws at you.
Branding should whisper, not shout
Walk into most stores and you'll see logos everywhere. Chest emblems, sleeve marks, waistband branding. The assumption is that you want to advertise what you're wearing.
We took a different approach. Every Essential Layers piece carries just one mark — a small, tonal 'E' near the lower hem. Tone-on-tone, designed to blend with the fabric rather than contrast against it.
No chest emblems, no sleeve marks, no loud logos. If the polo is well-made, if it fits right, if it solves the problems it's supposed to solve — it doesn't needs a billboard to prove it. The product speaks for itself.
Where we're headed
The Core Polo is just the start. We're building a complete, modular work kit — a tight system of essentials that layer together seamlessly. Base layers for comfort. Polished layers for meetings. Commute-ready pieces that transition between contexts.
Every layer with a purpose. Nothing wasted.
Ready to try it yourself
The Core Polo is where the philosophy becomes something you can wear. Three collar styles, one Supima cotton fabric, zero decisions you need to overthink.
